GERALDINE PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH.

The Anniversary Services of the Sunday School connected with the above Church was held on Sunday. The church was nicely hung with native shrubs and floral decorations, and a picturesque looking arch was formed over the pulpit. There were large congregations throughout the day, and the collections were in aid of the Bchool fund. The Rev. W. C. Woodward preached at the morning service, and before entering upon his ordinary sermon delivered a five minutes allegorical sermon to the young ; dealing with the largo oak tree and the little ivy. For the ordinary sermon he selected the text Proverbs xxii., 6 " Train up a child in the way it should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it" ; and preached a very instructive sermon to parents as well as children. He showed that the possibilities of childhood were marvellous, and spoke of there being two powers at work in moulding the character of the young, viz : the power of environment and the hereditary power. Sometimes the one power counteracted the evil of the other power, and sometimes both powers were evil. The Rev. A. B. Todd preached at the evening service. DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES. In the afternoon Mr W. S. Maslin, Superintendent, gave away the prizes as under before a number of parents and friends of the scholars. Mr Maslin congratulated the successful scholars, and said that the school for good behaviour was equal to any.
