Tliu following Is the Corn Exchange report, (por V," Denlmm. Secretary), for the week ending February iOlh : The weather of the week lias been everything to bo desired, and deprived farmers of the old English privilege of crumbling. Wheat—The price is a hard nut to crack, and what the kernel will turn out is problematical. One thing is certain, it will not be high. The old prima in stock, and the oilers of new crop are rairidly approaching each other. Oats—Old feed are still asked for and new milling wanted at quotations. .Barley— We have some new season's ottered, but are still looking for prime malting at 4s. The local samples shown us arc very indifferent, though we are told some excellent quality has been offering from Blenheim. Ryegrass—The demand has slackened, though a good quantity has been shipped, all last week's sales. Peas —Selling well. Dairy produce 1 heEnglish cables show a drop in price, and our market is in sympathy.
Wheat—Milling 2s Bd, others Is 9d to ' 2s 4d. Oats—Old feed la 9d, new milling ] s 9d, tartars Is Kkl. Barley—Prime malting 4s. j'oas—Blno .Prussians 3s Id, feed 2s 6d. Potatoes—Kidney ..yls.:> at stations. Ryegrass Farmers' 2s to 2s Gd, machined 3s Gd. Cocksfoot—The shippers are cautious —very. No boom in it. Batter, cheese, and millers' goods—As per latt week's report. The above prices are those paid to farmers, f.0.b., packages extra. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. London, February 9. Mr Valentine, a butter expert, has been appointed to report on the grading of New South Wales butter and on the industry generally. Feb. 10.
Consols, 99J. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 10G ; 3| per cent., ditto, 9G^. New Zealand long-berried wheat, ex warehouse, restricted at 31s 9cl. Mutton, Canterbury, 4|-d per lb, Wellington, 4;|d ; mutton, ex Kaikoura, 3£d, and hindquarters 4jd. Hemp is steady and the market is quiet. T' r i C es remain unchanged. No New Zealand consignments are offering. South Australian wheat, ex warehouse, 33s 3d ; Victorian, ditto, 335. The American visible supply of wheat is 10G,500,000 bushels. At the wool sales there is fair competition. Crossbreds are firm with quotations unchanged. Feb. 11.
The export of iron to Australasia decreased by £97,000 hi January as compared with the corresponding month in the previous year.
The tallow market is excited and there is a very strong demand. There is an average all round advance of Is Gd. Parcels of Australian wheat, February and March shipments, are selling at 31s. Choice factory-made butter ex Kaikoura realised from 100 s to 104 s per cwt.; dairy-made 925. The wool sales are slightly in buyers' favour. American competition is weaker. After attempting for four years to obtain a meeting, the Australian committee of the London Chamber of Commerce have amicably discussed with eight leading Australian ship-owners the matters in dispute regarding eolonial bills of lading. The meeting was adjourned to March Ist to enable the ship-owners to consider the proposals of the committee.

The Treasurer states that the Government will refrain from raising 'foreign loans and will borrow only in the colony. Adelaide, February 10.
The South Australian Register estimates the wheat average will be G bushels 411 b to the acre, the total yield being 11,435,000 bushels. This will leave a surplus of 7,985,000 bushels. The Supreme Court has granted the petition of the creditors of the Federal Bank for the compulsory winding up of the institution.
Wellington, February 10,
The third wool sales for this season were held to day. About 1500 bales were catalogued, of which a good proportion was lambs' wool, and about two-thirds of the lots offered were sold, Both Home and local buyers were well represented, aud bidding, especially for the better class of wools, was spirited. For crossbred, best quality, prices ruled slightly in vendors' favour, but for faulty, bush-stained, and dingy wools, there was no improvement to record. Fine crossbred realised up to Bd, coarse ditto from Gd to 7Jd, lambs' wool up to B£d, other qualities froni/6d to 7£d.
The Canterbury Farmers' Cooperative /.association (Ltd) have received the following cablegram from their Loudon office, under date Bth February : —" Australian cargoes of wheat are quoted at 31s 6d per 4801bs, market quiet. The present state of the market and current value of mutton, fair average quality,! Smithfield market, is per lb. Market affected by small supplies."
