MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. London, February 5. Tall vw, medium mutton, 28s 6d ; beef, 28s. The English wheat market is declining and weak. The Continental is dull, and the American unchanged. The total quantity of wool catalogued up to date is 134,600 bales, of which 125,800 have been sold. At yesterday’s sale there was a good attendance of buyers and competition was brisk. Victorian combings brought 9Jd and lamb 10|d. For other sorts prices are unchanged. Feb. 6. The average price of wheat in country markets is 2Gs 3d, and Australian wheat, off coast, is quoted at 32s 3d. At the wool sales there is keen competition for good wools, but heavy faulty sorts are slow of sale. Victorian wool is bringing Bjd to Is IJd. About four per cent, of the Duke of Westminsters’s Brisbane beef is damaged, but the mutton is in good condition. Rome, Feb. 6. The Banca Associatione of Florence has failed. The liabilities amount to 2,000,000 lire. The manager and cashier of the institution have been arrested for fraud.
