William Byrne, aged 40, described as a stonemason, has pleaded guilty at Sydney to the stealing of the carcase of a pig. He said he took it to get into gaol, because he could not work and was hungry. At the inquest on the bodies of two infants found on the beach at Bondi, N.S.W., the medical evidence showed that the bodies had evidently been kept in methylated spirits for some time, and that death was due to an irregular fracture of the skull, which, in the doctor’s opinion, was caused by some sharp instrument used by a skilled person. A verdict of wilful murder was returned.
