TEMUKA V. COLONIALS.
The above teams met on Thursday at Temuka for the third time this season the Colonials again winning the match. Rain delayed the game for half and hour at the start the ground being very soft, and causing the balls to and shoot a good deal. Cutten and Lowe were sent out- to do battle for Temuka both of them falling to Urey, the left hand bowler, Heap and Fergus*,?;’ who followed soon got to work, and brougt the score up to 52 when the latter player, who was batting splendidly, was badly run out, Temuka still had 6 wickets to fall and only 10 runs t 9 uake to win; Macintosh was now pat on to bowl, and jn his third over bowled Heap, Brown, and Anderson, in three successive balls and lowered .Morton’s stumps with the last ball of the over, Heap retired with 31 to his credit, which fie had made by playing good cricket. Temuka lost the game by 6 runs. Both teams fielded well only one catch on each side being dropped. Dignan bowled best for Temuka, and Macintosh for Timaru, out of the six bowlers put on for his side. Messrs J. T. M. Hayhurst and Brown /Timaru) officiated as umpires. Extras, 3. Total 61. TIMARU V GERALDINE. A match between the above teams took place on Thursday last at Timaru and resulted in a draw in favour of Timaru. The weather was not at all favourable, and a commencement was not made until 2 o’clock. Timaru was the first to bat. We have not space to describe the match, but it is not too much to say that C. T. H. Perry (Timaru), who went in early and carried out his bat for 57, saved his side. Hargreaves and Malcolmson with 10 each were the only others who got into double figures. For Geraldine, Pearpoiut played well for 17, and F. Wilson Smith for 12. The bowling on both sides was good. Messrs Lindsay and Ward officiated as umpires, and some of the lady friends of the Timaru Club kindly provided afternoon tea.
