GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening. Present— Messrs A. White (chairman), W. S. Maslin, J. Williams, R. Y. Ferguson, R. Taylor, and J. M. Sutherland. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was received aud dealt with as under; — From Mrs Millard, asking to have her name put on the rate roll in lieu of her son's name.—Granted. From Mr A. White, asking to have his son's name, Alfred Benjamin White, put on the rate roll.—Granted. From the inspector of the new concrete bridge, enclosing the final certificate upon the contract. From Mr T. Herlihy, offering to erect a fence at the concrete bridge for the sum of £1 12s.—The works committee to inspect the fence, and get done what is necessary. From the Clerk Geraldine Road Board, re granting use of reserve below the stone bridge for burying dead animals, refusing to grant use of same, it being too near the main road, but granting use of reserve for cremation, if properly done. board's material. Mr Maslin proposed, Mr Ferguson seconded, and it was carried —" That in future all material bought from the board be paid for before delivery." THE PAN SYSTEM. Mr Smith, the board's solicitor, waited on the board re the making of the by-law for the adoption of the pan system for the removal of nightsoil. Mr Maslin proposed, and Mr Williams seconded—" That the clerk write to the Timaru Borough Council for full information of their system, and after receiving reply the chairman to call a special meeting of the board."—Carried. transfer. An application for the transfer of section 1847 from John A. Quinn to Mary B. Quinn was granted. GERALDINE DOMAIN. Mr F. Wilson Smith applied to have some rough seats placed on the oval for the benefit of the public.—Not entertained. REPORTS. The ranger's report on stray cattle, and the overseer's repoi't were read. THE CONCRETE BRIDGE. Mr Herlihy, inspector, forwarded his account for inspecting bridge, £1613s 4d. —Resolved that it be paid. Messrs Sherratt & Co. enclosed their account for balance of contract,-—Resolved that it be paid. FIXED DEPOSIT. It was resolved that £l5O be redeposited for twelve months in the Bank of New Zealand, Geraldine. / ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting £93 8s 2d were passed for payment. DOG REGISTATION. Mr C. E. Sherratt was appointed registrar of dogs. RATES. It was resolved that all rates not paid by January 31st be sued for, GORSE., It was decided to write to Mr C. Green re gorso on his vacant section. The board then rose.
