London, December 19.

Mr Justice Williams has refused to make an order for o the compulsory winding up of the new Oriental Bank, on the ground of expense and delay. It is alleged that the forgeries committed by Wright and Hobbs amounted to £25,000 per qurarter. Hobbs falsified the wages sheet to the extent of £15,000. The hearing of the charges haa begun at Bow Street. A third charge is that Wright suppled signatures to bills purporting to emanate from Hobbs’ creditors. It is further alleged that a clerk of Hobbs’s, named Kentish, was cognisant of the frauds, and received percentage. Tallow, medium mutton, 2Cs ?,,]. medium, 25s 9d. ’ 1

It is rumoured the calls are due to the losses which have been sustained on wheat transactions, Wellington, Dec. 20. The manager of the New Zealand and Diver Plate Land and Mortgage Company has received advice that the dividend recently declard was 2 per cent, not 6 per cent, as received by cable from Londm on Sunday night.
