CRICKET.

The return match between Geraldine and Temukaiirat elevens was played atTemuka on Saturday afternoon, and resulted in a win for the visitors. The early part of the afternoon was very blustering, and interfered somewhat with the bowling, but later the weather was perfect. The visitors arrived shortly after one o'clock, and a start was made at about a quarter to two, Dann winning the toss, and putting his side in to bat. The pitch was in capital order, but favored the batsmen slightly. Cayley and Cox were first at the wickets, and Pearpoint and Fish were put on to bowl. Cayley full quickly, being cleverly caught by Fish, and Dignan, who succeeded, fell to Pearpoint's bowling without scoring, somewhat damping the hopes of Temuka. Cox played carefully for 30, ■ and saw some qigHt wickets fall, ■ Lw touted up elqveq

whence was run out, and Hayhurst who succeeded him, put on 15 in merry fashion, when he fell to a well-pitched ball of Kalaugher's, who had taken Pearpomt's place. Dann was also a victim to the same bowler after adding eight to the score. Brown, Cutten (not out), Gillespie, and Anderson only succeeded in adding another eight, which, with five extras, made up 69 for Temuka's first innings. The Geraldine team, albeit the brothers Moore were not present, succeeded in putting together 126 for seven wickets, when they declared their innings closed. Of these Hill made 22 in vigorous but somewhat reckless fashion, Fish made 18 in good style, <uid B. K. Macdonald gave a display of excellent cricket for 15. W. K. Macdonald fell to a " yorker " of Low's after adding nine, and ft. H. Pearpoint, when once set, played brilliantly for 32, not out, his score numbering eight two's and one six. Radcliffe was caught in the slips without scoring, and G. Bethune was bowled by Low for seven. Kalaugher (not out) made 10. Colbert and Whaley did not bat. Temuka in their second innings put together 97 for seven wickets, Cayley making 17, and Cutten 41. Brown aud Hayhurst did not bat. In the field Radcliffe, for Geraldine, did excellent service. The teams were entertained with afternoon tea by Mrs E. Brown and daughters, and the presence of a number of visitors from Geraldine and the township gave increased interest to the game. Mr Ward umpired for Geraldine, and was relieved by Mr Famie. Mr Gaze acted in like capacity for Temuka. The following are the scores :
