Sydney, Nov. 30. In the Legislative Assembly a motion was carried in favor of introducing a Bill to abolish barmaids and permitting hotels to have only one bar. Dec. 1. The actuarial report on the working of Civil Service Superannuation Fund shows that the insolvency indicated some time ago is now most distinctly intensified. At the end of 1890 the fund showed a debit of £99,000, which was due to the extraordinary influx of pensioners during the past four years. In order to remedy the affairs it is suggested that no one should be retired under sixty years of age, except under very rigid regulations ; that a sufficient subsidy be granted, and further that retirements under the retrenchment scheme should not be made a charge on the fund. Mrs Parker has instituted an action against Mr Joseph Clark for false imprisonment and malicious prosecution. The damage are laid at £IO,OOO. Mrs Pender, who was shot by her husband, is dead. Melbourne, Nov. 30. Last year's operations at the Mint resulted in a loss of £4OOO.
