DUNEDIN SPRING MEETING. On Tuesday the Dunedin Jockey Club were unfortunate in the weatlior for tha first day of the Spring Meeting. Rain fell from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. The attendance was small, only about 2000 being present. There were some good finishes, but the weather and the attendance gave everything a depressing aspect. Speculation was far from brisk, only £IO7B being put through the totalisator, as against £6957 last year. The club for the first time deducted the Government tax from investors. Results : Spring Hurdles, of 100 sovs.; 2 miles— Mr Russell’s Magpie, list 51b, walked over, or rather cantered past the judge’s box. Maiden Plate, of 60 sovs.; miles— Mr Cotton’s Wolseley 1, Mr Alexander’s Frivolity 2, Mr Twomey’s Jacob Faithful 3. Four others ran. Time, 2rnin. 18sec. Dividend, £3 9s.
