THE CANTERBURY SPRING MEETING. The Canterbury Jockey Club's spring meeting was concluded at Riccarton on Saturday under very favorable circumstances. Light rain fell during part of the afternoon, but the attendance was very good, over 3500 persons being present. The Governor and Lady Glasgow and party were again present. Sport all through was very good. Messrs Hobbs and Goodwin passed the sum of £10,940 through the totalisator, being £6OO lesß than last year. The following are tho results : Spring Nursery Handicap, of 2 sovs. each, with 100 sovs. added ; second horse 10 sovs; for two-year-olds ; 4 furlongs. Mr D. O'Brien's Loyalty 1 Mr G. G. Just below the distance post Crackshot compounded, and Stepniak catching Prime Warden (who lost 100 yards at the start) at the rails, and went on and won by two lengths; Prime Warden a similar distance in front of Crackshot; Merrie England a length further away, last.
