TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

The regular monthly meeting of the above was held last night. Present— Messrs J. Blyth (chairman,) W. Storey, G. Mason, and J. Miles. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read as follows— From Mr E. Outten, asking that the names of Mendelson's Trustees be removed from the roll, and that of Mr E. Hancox substituted in respect of part section 50. From the Under Secretary, Wellington, covering a copy of Shop Assistants Act, and stating that a further supply can be procured at the rate of Is each. From Timaru Harbour Board, acknowledging receipt of balance of 1890 Harbour Rate, and remitting commission on amount collected. From Mr W. Fletcher, stating that he would have lo throw up contract 45, and asking the board to refund deposit. Not entertained. From Mr F. G. Ewington, as Secretary to Vaile Testimonial C immitteo, soliciting subscriptions.—To lay on table. From Clerk to Temuka Road Board, asking permission to place a crossing over new kerbing at the board's premises. overseer's report. The overseer's report was to the following effect. Contract 44 was duly started under favorable circumstances, ard the drain leading to park had been cleared. He had gone into the question of contract No. 45 thrown up by Mr Fletcher and found that the tender of Mr H. Elkis was virtually lower than that of Mr Flaherty. He askod instructions as to the course to be pursued. Mr Storey moved that fresh tenders be called for contract No. 45, the specifications to be modified in relation to the height of the crown of the road.— * Seconded by Mr Mason aud carried. Re Mr Fletcher''s oontract, the overseer explained that the tender was apparently a mistake. Mr Mason said that, all things considered, it would be unfair to return the deposit, and he moved that it be retained.—Seconded by Mr Storey and carried, ACCOUNTS, Accounts to the of £2B 3s lid were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
