A FRAGMENT.

The waves toss’d high, and the winds roar’d loud, The lightnings flashed from the thunder cloud; The barque’s frail rigging shook on the blast, And terror the mariner’s brow o’ercast. The Lord of Creation was sleeping on deck; His diciples were with Him, yet dreaded a They cried aloud —“ Oh ! Master', awake 1 Save, safe, or we perish! We sink in the lake 1 ” Then Jesus arose, and rebuked the winds And the waves, bringing faith to His followers’ minds. His voice was soon heard on the sea’s angry deep; Now ’tis smooth the air’s calm as an infant’s sleep. Thus the weakest disciple, who ne’er disbelieves, But trusteth in God, every succour receives; Life’s sea may seem dark, and its billows may roar, But the Master will guide to the heavenly shore.
