INTERCOLONIAL SHOOTING.
Sydney, Oct. 21. A strong wind was blowing across the rifle range to-day. The New Zealanders figured prominently in the prize lists. The Championship, which carries £IOO, and the gold medal of the Association, was won by Captain Hicks, of Shell Harbor, with an aggregate score of 883. Mcintosh, of Sydney, takes the second prize of £SO with a score of 373. The aggregates are not fully made up, but Kruse, of Wanganui, comes within the first ten. In the President's Match, seven shots at 500yds, 600yds, and 700yds, Weir, of the Thames, secures the eighth prize of £4, with a score of 84; Kuchen and Rait, Wellington, and McCarthy, Auckbud, 81; Ballinger, Wellington, Doughty. In the champion aggregate match Kruse, of Wanganui, finished tenth with a score of 858. Other prizetakers were McCarthy (Auckland) 352, Purnell (Wanganui) 350, Kuchen (Wellington) 840. Weir (Thames) 338, Ross (Napier) 836, Doughty (Auckland) 332, Rait (Wellington) 331, A. Ballinger (Wellington) 327. An unfortunate bungle has happened in connection with the champion teams match. The regulations provide that the scoring cards in the different matches, whose aggregates make up the champion team match, should be handed in when the prize list is issued. The Queensland team were placed first, though the New Zealand team scored 25 more points than the former, but neglected to hand in their scoring cards as provided above. It is not yet known whether the council of the Association ■will revise the list. In the Rifle Club Match of 10 shots at 500yds and 600yds, open to teams of five men, the Auckland Club take first prize, £SO, with a score of 881. The MartiniHenry Rifle Club team of Petone, Wellington, take the fifth prize of £ls, with a score of 360.
The Council of the New South "Wales Rifle Association have fined the New Zealanders for their breach of the regulations in the champion teams match, and have awarded them the first prize. The analysis of the prize list for the week shows that the New Zealand competitors carried off 48 individual prizes, exclusive of prizes in the continuous matches. The intercolonial match will be fired to-morrow, 10 men a-side, 500yds, 600yds, and 700yds, 15 sh®ts at each range. The New Zealand team are the favorites.
