The Defence Corninission’s report which has been presented to Parliament says that is imperative that the Commandant and Assistant AdjutanL Oeneral and the Naval Commandant shall be selected from tlio Imperial Service, and shall be clm>' A r, ii •■'geu every five years; and *.ls o that for the next three years at least officers commanding the artillery should be nominated by the authorities of the War Office, ihe report recommends that the strength of the permanent garrison of artillery be reduced to oTOmou. and the partially paid garrison bo reorganised by increasing thoir strength to 900 men. The total infantry force ol the colony, including reserves,
should be oOJ men. It is also suggested that the Wolverine be disposed of, and vessels of modern type hired from the Admiralty, and that the Naval Artillery be disbanded and reformed as Garrison Artillery.
