PRESENTATION.
At the conclusion of the Geraldine live stock sale on Wednesday, several farmers met at Mr Mundell’s office, to congratulate Mr R. Y. Fergusson on his entering upon the managership of the Geraldine Branch of the Farmers’ Cooperative Association. Mr R. Skinner was voted to the chair and expressed his pleasure at being present to show the good fellowship that existed between Mr Fergusson and the farmers. He had known Mr Fergusson all the time he had been in Mr Mundell’s emp'oy, and always found him straightforward, honest, and obliging. (Hear hear). At Geraldine it was not like Timaru. Here many times they had to call on the storekeeper at all hours, and ho was pleased to say that Mr Fergusson was always very obliging in this respect. At harvest time they could call on Mr Fergusson and get what they wanted at any hour. He was sure the Co-op. would have some difficulty in getting a better man than Mr Fergusson. He had on behalf of the fanners to present Mr Fergusson with a purse of sovereigns, and lie wished him long life and success in his now career. Mr Fergusson, in accepting the presentation, thanked the farmers for the kind fooling they had shown towards him, and said that anything ho had done had been in justice between man and man, and in doing his duty to his employer, So in the future he da hjs best for the interests Qi* all concerned. Messrs Kohnan, McShane, B. Taylor, B Thew and Urophy all testified to the good qualities Mr Fergusson possessed as a business nur and joined in wishing him 8UW933 iu the mtuvij.
Mr J. Mundell said that during the time Mr Fergusson had been in his employ lie had given unlimited satisfaction. He had been exceedingly obliging to clients, and was very painstaking in his wort, and he hoped that he would always do well.
