TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Will you kindly give me space in your widely-circulated paper to say a few words in answer to “ A Ohiel that’s taken notes. I am glad that there is a man who will take up Ms pen to defend the rights of his neighbors and his own. Such a man will always be a friend of mine, whether lam a friend of his or not. It appears I have rose the Chiel’s wool in speaking of the wheelbarrow bridge, which he says was paid for out of money accruing from the special settlement. Now when I was a member of the town board we wrote to know if there was any money accruing from that settlement, and we were given to understand that there was no provision made for that in the Act, and certainly we never received any money from it. If there is money accruing from it, which I very much doubt, it is very little. The five sections sold for cash is only one fifth part of the money that is coming to them, and those sections were sold nearly three years ago.' There is an Act passed that the board shall receive all money accruing from those sections four times a year, so that the board must have received several vouchers in small amounts ; aud if the board have kept that money surely they would invest it at interest; and I have not seen any investment only the £SO, which is always £SO, and that is not theirs. Besides there have been lots of work done—shingling north road, grubbing gorse, a footbridge, and share of two more footbridges, cleaning the creek several times, and forming the right-of-way to the wheelbarrow bridge on both sides, so that it must have taken doable the amount of money accruing from that department.
