TUo regul'ir monthly meeting of the above was held last night. Present— Messrs J. Ash well (chairman), A. Frew, E, Brown, E. Carr, and A. Bussell. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence %VIIS received ; Freni the Mayor o| Hawera, stating that it was proposed to erect a national memorial to Sir Harry Atldiisoii,andsuggcstingthat a local committee be fonned to receive subscriptions thereto. It was suggested delegates from different centres should meet ip Wellington to dec|da thg form which the memorial should take, From the Land Board, covering schedule of lands upon which “ thirds ” were accruing, and suggesting that the hoard should specify the way in which thp lyhole qf tl]o aipoimt accrued, and tq accrue, should bo expended, so that the Receiver of Land Revenue could forward the amounts as they fell due without further references to the board. for some time there were several stoppages. One man had been employed for two days in removing temporary obstructions. Arrangements had been made for shingling the cutting in Prince’s Street as authorised, and also for the footpath, etc., in Wilkin Street near Mr McCaskill’s. Shingle would also be required for approaches to foot bridges, and also at several road crossings. It would also be advisable to put on a surface man for a fortnight to fill in a few ruts on main roads, and cut off grass edgings which interfered with drainage In view of the probability of reserves round the creek being shortly available for letting it would be as well to invite tenders for creek cleaning, as the work could not be deferred much longer. It was arranged that the chairman and overseer inspect proposed work and also in respect to an application for a crossing made by Mr Barrett. The overseer was instructed to report on drainage at Studholme street. CHARITABLE AID. The overseer drew attention to a case of a settler in the village settlement deserving of charitable aid, and asked the board to recommend the Hospital and Charitable Aid to grant some relief. On the motion of Mr Russell, seconded by Mr Carr, it was resolved that the overseer be authorised to communicate with the authorities upon the subject. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £9 Os Od were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
