London, Oct. 7. Mr John Burns is of opinion that we shall soon see Socialism applied to municipal, industrial, and national questions. The Railway Servants' Congress propose that there should be a general Parliamentar secretary for all the unions. New York, Oct. 8. A house occupied by forty nonUnionists at Homestead was destroyed by dynamite. No lives were lost. Sydney, Oct. 7.
A Inrge eight-hours demonstration has been held at Broken Hill. Seven thousand men marched, in procession through the streets. Strike matters have not changed, and so far neither side shows any weakness. Oct. 8. It is officially announced that 830 men are at work in the Proprietory Mine at Broken Hill. 93000zs of silver were produced this week. Brisbane, Oct. 8. What appears to have been a deliberate attempt to destroy the Big Reef Company's property at Georgetown, was made by inserting plugs of dynamite with detonators attached in the firewood used for the boiler fires. A timely discovery prevented the boilers being burst, and the sacrifice of much life.
