A fearful mine explosion occurred at the Park Slip Coal pit, near Bridgend, Wales, on August 20. A hundred and fifty men were entombed. Fire burst from the mouth of the pit, enhancing the horrors of the situation. The work of rescue commenced and went on unremittingly night and day and 89 imprisoned miners were rescued. The scene when they reached the surface was Indescribably.
