A commission has been appointed to advise the Government as to the expediency of modifying the Indian Currency Act. Lordllerschellis president. The total quantity of wool catalogued up to date is 226,800 bales, of winch 201,300 have been sold. American buyers have taken 4000 bales. Good shafty sorts are firm. There is brisk sale and keen competition for all sorts, especially the better descriptions of combing wool, and prices are being well maintained. Oct. 4. The Mercantile Bank of India, London, and China, reports that it has transferred £125,000 from reserve to profiit and loss, to meet losses incurred by frauds in Bombay. A scheme of recons;ruction is necessary to secure fresh capital, though the bank is still sound.

Wheat is 27s lOd, the lowest price on record. Prices at the wool sales continue very firm. Competition is brisk especially for greasy combing merinos, and well conditioned crossbreds. The German competition is very animated. Dalgcty A: (jo. have declared a dividend of 8 per cent and carried forward £58,000 to reserve. Brussels, Oct. 4. The international Monetary Conference meets at Brussels on November 22nd. Eighteen nat ions, including the leading European Powers, will be represented.
