London, September 25. Prices at the wool sale are unchanged A large section of the Queensland new clip, which, though inferior to last year's product excited some competition, was sold at B£d to9d. Tallow, medium mutton, 2os, beef do., 23s 6d. The new issue of £IOO.OOO worth of debentures by Messrs Chaffey Bros, has been over subscribed. Sept. 2T. The cargo of wheat by the barque Peebleshire, from Lyttelton, sold at 2Gs 6d per quarter. The Investigation Committee ot the Mercantile Bank of Australia in declining to express any opinion concerning the report of the Melbourne committtee until they have had time to fully discuss its details, have created a most painful impression in the city, and much damage will be done to the credit of Victoria if the charges are substantiated. An opinion is expressed that it is clearly the duty of the Government to institute a prosecution in the matter.
