The Amateur Athletic Crosscountry Steeplechase took place on Saturday afternoon over the Grand National course at Riccarton, near Christchurch. The distance was two miles, and C. G. Rees (scratch) won easily by about 50 yards; D. Page (120 yards) was second, and T. H. Harker (175 yards) third. The time was 12min 45 2-sth sec. Sydney", Sept. 24. Yesterday afternoon Kemp rowed over the course, and was declared winner of the Kemp-Sullivan heat in the carnival. Sullivan is therefore out of the contest. It is stated that if Kemp is anxious for a match, Sullivan is willing to row him for £2OO a side within four weeks. At the Amateur Championship Athletic Meeting on Saturday the principal events resulted as follows : Half-mile flat race, Mcßae (Victoria) 2min o'-oth sec. Mile walk, Bullock, 7min 30sec. 100 yards flat, Shappere and Madden, a dead heat, Three-mile flat, Dalrymple 1. Corner 2, Morpeth 3. Time, 15min 45sec. The 120 yards hurdles was won by Flettin in 18 2-sth sec, and the 440 yards hurdles by Shappere in 52-i-sec.
