AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD
An adjourned meeting of the newlyelected members of the above board was held last evening. ' The clerk took the chair, and Mr Brown moved—" That Mr Ashwell be appointed chairman for the ensuing sitting of the board." In doing so he referred to Mr Ashwell's valuable services. Under his ruling the meetings had been conducted in a very harmonious manner, and the board had experienced the benefit of his business experience. Mr Frew endorsed Mr Brown's remarks, and seconded the motion, which was carried. Mr Ashwell briefly returned thanks, and expressed the hope that their future meetings would be characterised by the same spirit of fairness as had marked them in the past. Mr Gaze was re-appointed clerk and overseer, and returned thanks for the board's confidence in him. It was decided to hold meetings on the same evenings as heretofore, and that cheques be signed by the chairman and two members. This concluded the business.
