PAMIR AND AFGHANISTAN.
London, Sept. 12. The Standard says the Russian Government hopes Captain Yanolf will be set tied so securely in the Pamir by spring that it will be useless for China to attempt to dislodge him. St. Petersburg, Sept. 13. The Novoe Vreraya says Yanoff"s expedition is not for scientific purposes but solely to strengthen Russia's authority in the Pamir. The paper contends that Great Britain has no locus standi in Pamir, and hints that. Russia is willing and able to cause her demands to be respected.
