ST. SAVIOUR'S CHURCH, TEMUKA.
INDUCTION OF REV. W. E. GILLAM
At the above church last night the Ven. Archdeacon Harper formally inducted the Rev. Mr W. E. Gillam to the incumbency of Temuka. The ceremony which was fairly well attended, consisted of ordinary evening service as far as the third collect, the lessons, which were read by the Rev. Mr Cox, being taken from the 10th chapter of St. John and the 4th chapter of Ephesians. Prior to the sermon, the Archdeacon read the Bishop's commission to Mr Gillam, and Mr E. C. Dann, the clergyman's churchwarden, on behalf of the parish, handed him the keys of the church and parsonage. The Rev. Mr Gillam having formally accepted the charge, the service was proceeded with, the Archdeacon delivering an address appropriate to the occasion, from the 21st chapter of Revelations, part of the 22nd verse, " And I saw no temple therein." The hymns were specially selected for the service, and Mr Proudlock officiated at the organ.
