MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD

A meeting of this Board was held on Friday, August 19th. Pi’esent—Messrs 0. G. Tripp, R, Mackay, J. D. Acland, and R. Thew. TENDERS. Tenders woi’o opened for thinning plantation, bnt as tliey were all too high the board decided not to accept any of them. As no tender was sent in for ploughing round plantations, the work was let to Mr A, Brown. Resolved—“ That tenders be called for clearing out and metalling the cutting on Clarke’s road,” CORRESPONDENCE. The following letter was received from Mr William Dixon :—“ The Chairman Mount Peel Road Bofird. Sir, —I beg leave to apply for a road to my perpetual lease section, 36094. It is xxtterly impossible for me to comply with the law until I have a road. Your truly, Wm. Dixon.” —The clerk to inform Mr Dixon that at present the board have no funds for such purpose, but when sufficient funds, from thirds, have accrued, they will attend to the matter. A letter was received from the Pay-master-General notifying that £125 had been paid to the credit of the board. A letter was received from the Geraldine County Council re the proposition of the Levels Road Board that the County Council should take the sparrow nuisance in hand.—lt was decided that the board is of opinion that the board should undertake it. A letter was received from the Audit Office returning certified balance-sheet. ROAD METAL. Resolved —“ That the overseer call for tenders for quarrying and breaking 600 yards road metal at Raincliff.” RATE. Proposed by Mr R. Thew, seconded by Mr J. D. Acland, and carried —“ That this board strike a rate of one half-penny in the pound on all rateable property in the Mount Peel Road District for the year ending 31st March, 1893,” the same to include Harbor and Charitable Aid Board rate; the payment to be made in one sum on Ist October, 1892.” ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £lB2 2s 7d were passed for payment.
