Todd, who preached from 11. Timothy, ii., i“> and ■!. choosing for his text the words “ A Good ‘soldier of Jesus Christ.” The main idea, of a good soldier’s life was concentration to one purpose. Every person’s talents were limited, and the only way to succeed in any department of life was concentration of talent to one end. In the long roll of history there were many examples of men who had lived for one great purpose. John Howard, of prison reionn fame, was one ; the discoverer of the buried ruins of the city of Troy was another. The apostle Paul had one end in view, for he wrote: —“For me to live is Christ.” Christ himself was filled with one great aim, for when a boy He had said to His mother “Wist ye not that I must I bo about My Father’s business.” Go 1, too, had one great purpose before Him, “ Yet I doubt nob though toe ages one unceasing purpose runs.” I hiring the service appropriate hymns were sung for the occasion. Afterwards the men were marched back to the drill shed and dismissed
