Calcutta, Aug. T. Two regiments of mountain artillery have been sent to Gilgit* on the northwestern frontier. Aaig. «S. Owing to the defeat of the Chinese troops by the Afghans in the Pamir district, the Russian troops are entering Chinese territory. The authorities at Pei;in have demanded an explanation of the conduct of the Russians, and another Chinese expedition to Pamir is being fitted out. Uviibot is a]s,a rising against the A , u( , !'r. and the Indian Government to o; iv-:t there will be a general disruption of Afghanistan.
