Canterbury mutton, 4d ; lamb, 5f d; beef, hindquarters, B£d. The New Zealand hemp market is flat, and prices unchanged. Of Kauri gum there is a small supply, but the demand is slow at an average decline of about -ss. Danish butter brings 110 s per cwt. South Australian wheat is firmer at 85s ; Victorian steady at 84s. The Bradford wool market has a more hopeful appearance, and a fair amount of business has been done. Prices remain very firm. New Zealand cheese is quoted at from 50s to 525.
The year's profits of the Bank of New Zealand amount to £OO,OOO. A further dividend of 5 per cent, was declared ; £15,000 was placed to the reserve fund and £OOOO carried forward.
