AUSTRALIAN FRAUDS.
(Sydney, July 29. Hurley, ex-member of Parliament, Nathan, a financier, and Martin were arrested in connection with the Australian Banking Company. It is understood that further warrants are being issued against individuals, and that some startling revelations are anticipated. It is believed that the company obtained £IOO,OOO in deposits and £IOO,OOO from shareholders, while not more than £15,000 is likely to be recovered. Melbourne. July 29. Clark and Taylor were found guilty of the Land Credit Bank frauds. The evidence showed that they divided nearly £90,000 between them. Sentence was deferred. A writ has been issued against Mr Munro, Agent-General, for £37,500, calls due on shares held by him in the Real Estate Bank, July 30. Taylor, of the Land Credit Bank, was found guilty of embezzlement, and sentenced to eightyears' imprisonment and fined £SOOO. Clark, of the same institution, was sentenced to four years' imprisonment and fined £SOO.
