Herr Neuman-Hofer, the dramatic critic of the Berliner Tagblatt, has had a rather unfortunate experience. A few days ago he wrote a notice of a new piece brought out at the Residenz Theatre, in which he made some rather disparaging remarks on the way in which the part taken by a certain Fniulein Gnstiger was acted. This lady was so much incensed by the notice that the morning after it appeared she went-to Herr Neuman's rooms, walked in upon him when he was at breakfast, and' after asking him how he dared to tell such lies about her acting, proceeded to thrash the unfortunate critic with a leather belt to which was aflixed a heavy buckle. Fniulein Gunstiger Jias been discharged from the theatre for this little exploit,
