Svdmcy, July (i. Business at Broken Hill is stagnant. Storekeepers are refusing to sell except for cash. Further outrages in tlie direction of destroying goods intended for the mines were reported yesterday, supplies for private residents and the manager of the Proprietary mine being cut off. The Owners Association will not attempt to work the mines with other labor. Fifty constables have been despatched to Broken Hill. The Central mine lias decided to insist on freedom of contract in engaging men in future, and it is believed other mines will follow this example. July 7. The mine owners have requested the New South Wales Government to despatch military to Broken Hill. New York, July G. Fighting has taken place between the strikers and the police at Pittsburg. Eleven persons were killed and twenty-five wounded. Oil is being poured on the river and tired, in order to prevent reinforcements of the police being sent by water.
