OVERSEER S REPORT, The overseer’s report was read and dealt with as follows : “ To the Chairman, “ Sir, —1 have the honor to report for the past mouth as follows : —Tenders have been invited for Contract No, 54, forming that part of the Main South Road between the south branch of the Rangitata river and the Main Island road. The contractor for No. 48, re-forming part of the Orari and Milford road, has left this work, but he informs me that he intends to complete it. The contractor for shingle repairs hjnj commenced the job and has been engaged* repairing the road leading from Main South road to Mr A. Austin’s, and is now repairing the top end of the Rangitata Island road. The contractor for No. 53, forming road from the Canal Drain towards R.S. 13,891 has commenced this work. Re bridge over the Ohapi Creek on road by Mr Guild’s, I have inspected the bridge over the Waihi on road leading to the mill, and would recommend that it be taken down and removed to the Ohapi, as it would meet the requirements of that place, and is of no service where it now is. The cost of removal and re-erecting would probably be about £9. In reference to the work applied for by Mr Hide I am of opinion that it will be best to have this work done by the contractor for carting shingle for repairs. Owing to the time for supplying the valuation roll having been extended until the 30th inst., I have not advertised the board’s intention to make a rate, as I could not prepare the rate roll for inspection as provided by the Rating Act. I have obtained a supply of poisoned wheat from Mr F. Powell, of Longbeach, and about seven bushels have been disposed of. As directed I have prepared a list showing the names of persons who have been served with notices to clear gorse from roads. In connection with the above I would point out the desirability of the board naming all roiids in the district.—l have, etc., “ F. Archer.” The clerk was directed to suggest names for the various unnamed roads, and submit his suggestion to the board at a future meeting. The recommendation with regard to shifting a footbridge from the Waihi Creek to the Ohapi Creek was agreed to. The board then adjourned.
