THE Temuka Leader. SATURDAY, JULY 2, 1892. ENLARGEMENT.
Our readers will doubtless be glad to notice that this issue of the paper is considerably enlarged. It is now about six months since we announced our intention of enlarging the paper, and it has taken us all this time to do it. We had to send Home to London for the paper, and provide other articles to enable us to do this, and now we have the pleasure of having completed all our arrangements. A good indication of the wealth and importance of any district is found in the character of the local paper. We have always tried to make this paper worthy of this district, and it is a satisfaction to us to feel that we have to a certain extent succeeded. We feel confident at any rate that it is no discredit to the district now, and that, taking the size of the town and the population into account, it will be found that it compares favorably with any paper published in any town in the Australian colonies. Hut we should not have been able to enlarge or produce so good a paper if we had not received support and encouragement sufficient to warrant the outlay. The paper itself is sufficient to show the appreciation in which it is held ; and the fact that the people support it so liberally is to us a proof that our efforts to cater for the public have not been in vain. We have done our best to serve the public faithfully and fearlessly iu the past; we have spared neither expense nor labor on making it what it is, and the fact that it has been so well appreciated will in the future act as an incentive to greater exertion on our part to improve and enlarge it still further as soon as we shali feef warranted in doing so. Witli these few remarks V/C present it this morning in its enlarged form.
