DREADFUL MURDER

News has been received at Brisbane that during the night of May 23rd the cabin boy of the schooner Skitty Belle at Thursday Island, had been murdered. Nothing occurred during the evening to cause suspicion, and nothing was suspected until the following morning, when the lad was missing. Suspicion fell upon the cook who was arrested. In his bunk a portion of the missing boy's body was found, tho tragedy resembling in some respects the notorious Whitechapel murders. A further search also brought to light blood stained clothes belonging to tho accused man. The crime was com initted early on Tuesday morning and tho body was thrown overboard. The prisoner is a native of Chili, and the murdered boy was also coloured. The prisoner has been committed for trial.
