((VKKSKBIt” si JJKI’OKT. The overseer’s report was as follows. : “ To the Chairman. 1 “Sib, —I have the honor to report fop the past month as follows !—-As authorised . at last meeting, tenders were invited e ' dip’ing the month for carting shingle for repairs, and for forming a footpath at Po.p the fatter work the tender of d, Pitield, at did, was accepted. As there was only one tender for the first-mentioned work it was decided to invite fresh tenders, which has been done,

; Tenders have also been invited for ' contract No. 54, forming part of the road leading from the Canal drain to the Orari river. In reference to the latter work, I found that to get the water away from the portion authorised to be done it was necessary to extend the work, and the specification now includes 20 j chains. Contract No. 48, re-forming part of Milford and Orari road, is not yet completed, but a cheque has been drawn, to be held until the work is finished. The roads from the sea beach to the Rangitata Railway Station and from Newlands to the last-mentioned road have been a good deal cut up during the last two or three months, and, as they arc now fenced on both sides for the greater part of their length, 1 consider that the worst places should be formed. I estimate the cost of doing this woi’k at £—, About 70 chains of White’s road require shingling, as it rims through swampy ground. The cost would probably be about £—. A new bridge will bo required on Talbot’s road. The cost will probably be about £ —-. I have the honor, etc., « F. The clerk having taken the chair, Mr Bissett proposed, Mr Snell seconded, aud it was carried ;—“ That Mr Talbot be re-elected chairman for the ensuing year.’’ Mr Talbot returned thanks. A ballot was then taken for retiring members, with the result that Messrs W. Snell and C. Bisset were drawn. RATE.
