DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS.

The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday : Wheat has good inquiry. Prime milling at 3s lOd; medium, 3s 3d to 3s 9d ; fowls' wheat, good whole, 3s j medium and broken, 2s to 2s M,

Barley is in fair demand if good bright. Malting at from 3s Gd to 4s; medium, 2s 8d to 3s 3d ; milling wanted at from 2s 9d to 3s 3d ; feed, 2s to 2s 3d. Oats—Good inquiry for all sorts. Prime milling, Is Gd to Is G£d ; good to medium , feed, Is 5d to Is Gd ; inferior, Is to Is 4d; j all sacks extra, off trucks. Oats have a | tendency upwards, as arrivals are short, especially for good feed and milling sorts. Prime Nelson hops, Is. Linseed—£ll to £l3 (wanted). Potatoes—Glutted, 30s to 32s Gd. C.irrots—3os per ton, sacks extra. Onions—£4, best Canterbury. Pigs—ln good demand, 150 s to 160 s veil killed, not too fat 3Jd; hams, 7d to 8d ; bacon, 5d to Gid. Chaff—The market was fairly supplied during the week and has freely sold at from 35s to 455; tip-top is worth from 45s to 555. Turnips—l6s to 17s Gd. Straw—Oaten and wheaten, 30s to 35s per ton. Clover and ryegrass hay, £3 5s to £3los. Hay, oaten, £3. Butter—Fresh, best, Od ; salt in good demand, 9d, 94d, and lOd, packages extra; all parcels if good are easily placed at to lOd; factory-made, Is per lb, f.0.b., packages in. Eggs—Scarce. Lard—4d to 4Jd. Honey—4id to 5d fcr best extracted. Beeswax, Is per lb. Cheese—Factory, 4£d to 4£d; loaves, id more; best Akaroa, 4d; medium, 3£cl to 3sd; loaves, M more. Grass Seeds—Ryegrass, farmers', Is Od to 2s Gd; machined, 3s 3d to 3s 9d; Italian, 3s 9d to 4s Gd; cocksfoot, 3kl to 4Jd.

Sheepskins—At auction on Monday all classes of skins brought fair and even values, butchers' green lots commanding a brisk competition up to the following rates : —Best crossbreds, 3s Gd to 4s 3d ; extra good, up to 4s Gd ; medium, 3s to 3s 3d; inferior, 2s Gd to 2s 9d; merinos, 2s to 2s 8d; lambskins, few, if any, offering ; dry skins sold as under, well saved halfbreds, about 5Ad per lb ; extra good, to Gd ; coarse wools, 5d to sid ; merinos, 4d to sd; skins with damaged pelts, lower in proportion.

Hides—The supply of prime ox hides is as usual below requirements, and for such 2gd per lb is readily obtained; extra heavy (a shade more average weight, but carefully flayed) mixed hides, 2d to 2£d ; light to medium, lid tol£d; inferior and damaged, Id to l^d.

Tallow—The supplies to hand are very small, and the same can be readily placed at from 18s to 20s per cwt for prime rendered mutton ; medium mutton and good mixed, 15s to 17s ; clean fresh uurendered caul fat, 12s Gd to 15s; rough fat. 10s to lis.

DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS,

At the Burnside Market on Wednesday the following business was transacted:— Jb'at Cattle—lßo head yarded, including a fair proportion of good average bullocks, with a few pens of better quality, the balance light to medium sorts. "Homo cows and heifers from south brought as high as £7 15s per head. Taken on the whole, there was but little change in values from those of last week, the only transactions of the day being, perhaps, a shade firmer, but towards the close buyers were enabled to operate on terms more advantageous to themselves. Really good bullocks brought £7 10a to £8; extra prime, £8 5s to £8 15s ; average weights, £G 15s to £7 5s ; light to medium, £4lss to £5 10s; some few pens being sold at below these figures to graziers. Cows and heifers, extra prime, realised £G 15s to £7 15s, and in one instance for a single beast £8 was paid ; good, £5 10s to £6' ; medium, £4 15s to £5 ss; inferior, £2 to £3 10s.

Jd'at sheep—23B9 penned, of which about 459 were merino?. Prices were somewhat irregular, and in the earlier sales of the day (for medium-class sheep) the greater part of last week's advance had to be again conceded to purchasers. however-, became much tinner later on ; in fact, for any lots of really prime sheep there was but little difference in prices from those of the previous sale. Quotations are as follow :—Prime crossbred wethers, 10s to 17s—one or two pens extra heavy 17s Gd to 18s 3d; inelhun, 14s (kl to 35s (id; light, 13s (id to 14s; heavy weight ewes, 15s to 16s Gd; others, lis to 13s Gd; merino wethers, 7s Gd to 12s Gd.

Lambs—o 3 only were penned, which sold at from Os (id to 12s Gd.

Pigs —l2l yardtid, ranging from weaners to heavy weight bacon pigs. Small stores had but a moderate inquiry, but oth'.T descriptions met with a clearance at about late rates ; suckers brought (is to l()s j s}ipj(, Jls to 14s; well grown stores, 17s Gd to 20s Od ; porkers, 24s to 28s ; bacon pigs, 30s to 40s ; extra heavy to 09a.
