The English wheat market is steady ; the Continental shows a general decline ; the American is firm. for Australian cargoes, on passage, sellers ask 3Gs 3d, but buyers are only willing to give 35s 3d, For oft-coast cargoes sellers ask 38s, and buyers offer 37s GdFor New Zealand oft-coast cargoes the selling price is 3Gs 9d; buyers offer Gd less. May 23. A New Zealand Sheep Company is being with a capital of £20,000. Mr Lieht, iho sugar expert, estimates in the eight mouths production a decrease of IGB,OOO tons, and expects that there will be a decrease on the whole campaign of 195,000 tons. The list for the next series of wool sales is closed. The total arrivals to date number 425,000 bales, pf which 58,000 have been forwarded to the numufaptnrors, leaving 387,000 available for the sale, Tho catalogue for the next series of wool sales contains 315,000 bales. New Zealand wool prospects are doubtful, except for combing and merino sorts.
