AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. Messrs Grade, Maclean, and Co. report for the past fortnight, as follows ; Horses—We have had a very good demand for young good draught and Ight horses at values something beyond what has been ruling lately. At the Timaru Horse Bazaar on Saturday, 30th April, there was a very large entry, comprising G 3 head of draught and light horses and ponies, out of which we succeeded in selling 39 head, and we would quote sound young draughts at from £2O to £2B, medium from £l2 to £lB. There were a fair number of light horses, which sold at late quotations. On the 7th inst., owing to the wet weather, very few horses (principally of an inferior class) came forward, most of which changed hands at prices satisfactory to the owners. Sheep—Privately we have placed 815 and 500 halfbred wethers for turnips, at satisfactory prices. Cattle—Fat and store cattle have been in good demand. We have disposed of one mob of 39 steers at £6, 28 heifers at £5 2s Gd, and 1 cow at £7, and we are in treaty for more. Sheepskins—On Wednesday, 4th inst., we held our usual sale of sheepskins, when there was a small entry and the quality indifferent, but anything offered brought full market value, the fellmongers being all short of material owing to the small number of skins available from the refrigerating works for some time past. Laud—On the 26th ult. we offered for sale by public auction the Seaforth farm, the property of Messrs Brown and Mitchell, when competition for the various sections was spirited up to a certain price, which, however, did not reach the owners’ reserves, and we are now negotiating for the sale of them privately. There is a good demand for farms, and at the present time we could place a few handysized farms at fair values. ENGLISH AND FOREIGN MARKETS.
