OUR VOLUNTEERS.

TEMUKA RIFLES. The monthly match of the Terauka Rifles, which took place on Easter Monday, resulted as follows :

Avei’e as usual, five shots each at above ranges, Wimbledon targets and scoring, GERALDINE RIFLES. On Monday afternoon at the Geraldine range the first firing for Lieut. Macdonald’s cap took place, nnder the supervision of Col.-Sergt. Stonehouso. There was scarcely any Avind but at the 300yds the men Avere firing Avith a dazzling sun in their eyes, Avhile at the 400yds they were compelled to wait till the sun’s rays had shifted. The conditions Avere Wimbledon targets and scoring Avith 7 shots at each range. Private Bethune topped the scoring Avithout his handicap as follows: 200yds, 26; 300yds, 13 ; 400yds, 26. Total 65. Owing to the handicaps not being made out the results of the match will not be published till our next issue. Captain Pearpoint’s cup will be fired for to-day. Conditions: Government targets and scoring at 200, 300, and 500yds. WOODBURY SCHOOL TREAT, The above Avas held on the Woodbury Domain, on Easter Monday, when the weather was most suitable for picnicking, and the attendance #f pupils, ex-pupils, parents, friends and school committee Avas as great as on any other occasion of this sort. The headmaster (Mr Gi’eaves) and the school committee did their utmost to make the time fly pleasantly with the youngsters, and running, shipping, football and cricket kept them all in good humour, while the elder lads and lasses amused themselves Avith games more suitable for their age. Eatables were plentiful, and loliie scrambles numerous, and the young people enjoyed themselves beyond measure.
