A gang of sisters have been arrested on a charge of having committed numerous stage-coach robberies in the mountainous district of Idaho. They admit the crime, and state that they were compelled by their father to do it. The New York Herald publishes a despatch from Venezuela, stating that the rebels have defeated the Government troops with heavy loss on both sides. Caracas, April 4. A bomb was thrown at the house of the President of Venezuela, the building being demolished. Lima, April 3. General Nicholas Dipierola, ex-Pre-sident of Peru, is organising a revolt in order to regain the Presidential chair which he vacated in 1881; but the Government troops are dispersing his followers. Buenos Ayres, April 3. This city is in a state of siege. Several prominent Liberals have been arrested on a charge of conspiracy to murder the President and two other leading officials. April 4. LABOUR. London, April 4. The unemployed in London are agitating for work. At several meetings which they have held lately speeches of an angry sort were delivered. The dispute with regard to wages, which has taken place at the oil-mills in Manchester and Staley Bridge, involves the sum of £50,000 per week. The families of the Durham miners out on strike are without food and fuel and are appealing for relief. April 4. The strike of engineers on the Tyne and "Wear continues, arbitration having failed. April 6. It is alleged that sweating in the Salvation Army Match Factory is causing distress among private employees. Sections of the engineers are seceding from the Amalgamated Society and are returning to work. Paris, April 3. The Paris Labor Bureau have issued a manifesto, in which a proposal is made to form a syndicate of Labourers to construct public works. Wellington, April 4. The Strike Committee met on Monday night, and decided to write to Mr Hall agreeing to refer the tramway dispute to arbitration, provided each side were allowed to select its own arbitrator, the two arbitrators to chose an umpire. April 5. Last year fully 100 men complained to Mr Teregear, head of the Bureau of Industries, that they had been swindled out of their money by unscrupulous contractors, and in order that the labouring classes may know their legal position, the head of the bureau has issued instructions that posters containing extracts from the Working Men's Wages Act and the Bankruptcy Act relating to the recovery of wages, shall be put np in a conspicuous place in each country town. The various branches of the bureau throughout the colony are also to be supplied with copies of both Acts for inspection by working people.

STORM IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Sydney, April 4. Heavy floods have occurred between the Clarence and Hunter rivers, and great damage has been done to crops. The township of Lismore is inundated. April 5. Heavy losses have been occasioned in the Grafton district by the Hoods, which are, however, abating. The whole of the town of Lismore is covered by water, and there is much distress. One fatality is reported. Brisbane, April 4. A cyclone which passed over this city completely demolished the Presbyterian church in South Brisbane, and considerably damaged several other buildings. THE ANARCHISTS. London, April 4-. The trial of the Walsall Anarchists concluded to-day. Battela, Caillcs, and Charles were each sentenced to ten years' penal servitude, Deakin, who turued infomer, to 5 years ; the other two were acquitted. Charles ' said the dynamite bombs found were intended for use Li Russia. Paris, April 3. The arrest of Ravachal was effected through the agency of a waiter in a wineshop which he frequented. The Commissioner of Police was informed of Ravachal's visits to this wineshop, and paid the waiter a large sum of money for the information which led to the arrest. The waiter is to be decorated with the Legion of Honour. Madrid, April 4. Ravachal has made a statement incriminating three of those who assisted him to carry out the recent explosions, and admitting that he is guilty of five murders. It is rumoured that Mathian, his principal accomplice, has made his escape to England. A factory for the secret manufacture of dynamite has been discovered near Paris. Ravachal has confessed that he planned the murder of the members of the Chamber of Deputies who voted for the capital punishment of dynamitards. April 5. A dynamite plot arranged by Anarchists has been discovered here. It was intended to destroy Chamber of Deputies, the Palace, and other public buildings by means of dynamite. The police arrested the plotters, after a desperate struggle, while they we-e proceeding to the Chamber of Deputies with the object of placing bombs u.n.d«v the seats which would shortly he. occupied by members. 'bombs weighed 81bs each, and a, time fuse of 3 minutes was detached. Included among those arrested are Frenchman, Portuguese, and several Spaniards.
