London, March 29. The Bank of Australasia has declared a dividend of 12£ per cent, and carries forward £15,000 to reserve. Two thousand tons of coal have arrived for the South Metropolitan Gas Company. At the opening of the wool sales to-day 12,300 bales were catalogued. There was a good attendance and fair competition. Merinos underwent a decline of 5 per cent ; good crossbreds remained unchanged, but inferior sorts were slightly in buyers' favor. The number of bales of wool arrived to date is 416,000. French buyers aro active, but the others aro quiet. Merinos and crossbreds are id per 5> lower. March 30. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,256,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,332,000 quarters. Share quotations —Bank of New Zealand, new issue, £7 10s; old issue, £o 10s. National Bank of New Zealand, £1 10s. The number of bales of wool sent forward direct to manufacturing districts is 94,600. The total available for this season is 355,600. The butter morket is swamped by the Danish and Norman article. Finest factory is selling at 110 s; second quality, 90s. The lonic's butter is inferior. At the wool auction there was good competition, and the opening prices were ; maintained. Crossbreds were slightlycheaper, and coarse sorts from par to Jd per lb lower than the prices obtained at last series. The American visible supply of wheat is 61,600,000 bushels. Dalgety and Co. have declared a dividend of 8 per cent, for the year. The annoucement that the associated Victorian banks have agreed mutually to support one another has produced uneasiness in the city. It is stated that financiers are negotiating with the Government of Victoria for the issue of another million. Messrs Chambers Bros., Mark Lane, London, cable under date March 30th to a Christchurch firm as follows :—Wheat is Is per quarter cheaper.
