S.C. CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the South Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held on Tuesday. Present— Messrs J. Jackson (chairman), W. M. Moore, F. R. Gillingham, G. H. Graham, and the Mayor of Timaru. The chairman said everything was going on smoothly- The present credit balance was £590, but there were four months expenditure to be met out of that. The concrete flooring of the hall had been put down and nearly finished. The cost would be only £l4 or £ls when finished. An estimate had been made of the cost of connecting the remaining water-closets in the hospital with the sewer—about £2OO. There was also the front fence to be taken into account. He thought the closets at the barracks should be connected with the -sewer, and if the board approved of this the cost should be included in the estimates.

It was resolved that the Finance. Committee (Messrs Jackson Moore, Sherratt, and Qi|lingham) be requested to prepare the estimates for the ensuing year, two to form a quorum. Correspondence with the Christchurch Hospital was read respecting a man named Sullivan who had gone from Timaru and had been admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. A request had been made that he be sent back, and a reply received that he was unable to trayel, It was resolved on the motion of Messrs Sherratt and Gillingham—“ That this board objects to any patients from this district being admitted to either Dunedin or Christchurch (or any other district) hospitals, unless this board is notified at once with regard to their reception, as it appears very unfair to reoeiye accounts for six months’ maintenance previous to being notified of same.” Hospital accounts amounting to £126 3s 3d were passed for payment. Charitable Aid accounts were passed for payment amqunting to £240 IGs Bd, and the meeting terminated,
