hire for the carriage of passengers both within the said District* or places beyond and within the said District. 45. To appoint the sums to be paid for licenses for vehicles issued by the said Board. 46. To provide for the inspection of all vehicles licensed by the said Board, and to prevent the use of such as are unsafe or insufficient. 47. To regulate the number of passengers which may be carried in licensed vehicles, and to prevent such number being exceeded. 48. To prescribe the lights to be carried by public or private vehicles in the said district, and the position on the vehicle. 49.
