AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.
The regular monthly meeting of the above was held last night. Present— Messrs J. Ashwell (chairman), E. Brown, A. Frew and E. Carr. correspondence. Correspondence was read From the Commissioner of Crown Lands, acknowledging receipt of the clerk’s letter re thirds, and stating that the sum of £9 14s 7d, amount accrued to October 31st, 1891, would be paid over to the board to be expended for the benefit of the sections furnishing the funds. From the same, in reply to overseer’s communication re Taumatakahu Creek and Crown Lands adjacent thereto. The Surveyor General had been again written to on the subject and his reply would be notified to the board on receipt. The commissioner had recommended that assistance be given to clear the creek of weeds. From the same in reference to market reserve at Arowhenua. The question of dealing with this reserve vvould bo conered by the Land Board at its meeting the 3rd. From the same, referring to a previous circular of December 11th 1891. A schedule of sections furnishing thirds amounting to £l4 4s 6d was now forwarded, with the request that plans indicating the manner in which it was proposed to exexpend the same might be furnished. Where the Land Board had already approved of expenditure, in anticipation for slated works, it was requested that the date and particulars might be given. From the Receiver of Land Revenue, advising payment to the Board of £9 I4s 7d for thirds as per schedule. From the Geraldine County Council, asking the board to furnish estimated amount that will be required for distribution of charitable aid Ayithiu the district for year ending March 31, .EB93.—The clerk to reply. overseer’s report.
The overseer’s report was as follows : J “ I have the honor to report that during k the mouth the construction of footbridges and approaches to same have been completed, the railing to lavender's
bridge has been repaired, and one man has been employed for twelve hours cleaning a small portion of creek near the market reserve. The contractor for concrete culvert has been making good progress with his work, and it should be completed within a week if the weather continues favorable. When finished, it will be necessary to arrange at once for the covering of same and formation of road. During the month Mr Mussen, a Crown ranger, inspected the condition of the creek in my company, and he intimated his intention of recommending the Land Board to take steps to have the same c'eaned prior to the creek reserves being vested in the board. —I have, etc., “A. W. Gaze, Overseer.” THE RESERVES. The leases of the reserves being nearly terminated, the clerk, by previous instructions submitted a memorandum of the terms and conditions upon which they were to be re-let. These were read and held over for further consideration. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £3l 19s 5d were passed for payment, and the meeting then terminated.
