CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE,
The following is the Corn Exchange report (per F. Denham, Secretary), for the week ending March sth :
The lines of wheat offering are limited and prime wheat difficult to get. Oats are good in quality, duns not specially so, bright long tartars are asked for. Barley on the whole very lean, and ideas of value differ very much, but we think our malsters will have to modify their views as to what is a fair malting sample for the season. We hear from all directions the threshing machines are showing a considerable shortage in the crop, and very few farmers are getting the quantity they anticipated. Kidney potatoes are offering freely, but few buyers. Cocksfoot—A large percentage discolored. Ryegrass quiet, though samples are very free from hair and goose grass this season.
