Timaku Hospital.—The following is the return of patients in the Timaru Hospital for the month of February, 1892:—Patients under treatment at date of last return: Males 8, females 6, total 14 ; admitted during month.- males 4, females 9, total 13; totals treated ; males 12, females 15, total 27. Discharged during month:—Cured: males 4, females 5, total 9; dead; male 1 (William Meade), female 1 (Mabel Hutchins), total 2; totals discharged.- males 5, females 6, total 11. Remaining under treatment: males 7, females 9, total 16. Out-patients treated during the month: males 3, females 4, totall7. The society which seeks to discourage the wearing of the plumage of birds in ladies' hats has taken effect. A professional fowler complains that in the previous year he was asked to get 8,000 gulls, but last year he has not shot one, the ladiea' association having stopped the demand.
