AUSTRALIAN CABLE.
Sydney, March 1. Richardson, manager of the Sydney Deposit Bank, has been arrested on a charge of making a false declaration in connection with the affairs of the Bank. In the Assembly to-night Sir Henry Parkes moved the adjournment of the House in order to draw attention to the present state of the federation question. He said that he intended to show that he was not responsible for the delay; also that the course proposed by the present Government was not conducive to the speedy consummation of Australasian unity; and lastly, to indicate what steps should be taken to bring federation to a successful iissue. Brisbane, Feb. 29. Parliament meets on March 29th, and it is understood legislation will be immediately introduced to legalise the employment of Kanaka labor under Government supervision for ten years. March 1. After the engagements already entered into are completed state-aided immigration will entirely cease.
