SAVE ME FROM MY FRIENDS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir —Permit me to say that Book Agent’s remark that H.G. did not practice what he preached is a Pharisaical charge, and a very old one. The Son of God and His Apostles, it was-saxd, broke the Sabbath day. Ignorant men m all ages of the world have said the Christian Church did not practice what it preached. A Christian minister the other day pulled his coat off and went to work in a paddock. And another minister in this town pulled off his coat and put the roof on to a poor man’s house. Talk about not practicing! And if I were to tell Book Agent about any of my good works he would say I was blowing my own trumpet. Therefore I shall leave that to my neighbors and the men whom I have worked for. Then as to my -want of love to my friends and relations. There are two classes of friends and relatives in the world. Genuine friends and relations are worth their weight in gold. But counterfeit, deceitful, and crafty friends andl’relations, having the mark of Judas about them—or that of Balaam, who loved the wages of unrighteousness—l can assure Book Agent I neither desire - the love of nor company. It will take Simon Magus, Praxeas, Sahellius, to prove my humble letter in your issue of 16th February, 1892, to be wrong.— I am, etc., Henry Goodey. Arowhenua, Feb. 19,1892.
